This International Standard specifies requirements for conducting energy assessment and reporting the results of an energy assessment of compressed air systems (hereinafter referred to as "energy assessment") that takes into account the entire system, from energy input to the work done as a result of that energy input. This International Standard considers compressed air systems as three functional subsystems: production, which includes the conversion of primary energy resources into compressed air energy; Transfer, which involves the movement of compressed air from the place of production to the place of consumption; Demand that includes the entirety of all compressed air consumers, including productive end uses and various types of compressed air loss. This International Standard specifies requirements for: the analysis of energy assessment data; Reporting and documentation of energy assessment findings; and determining the expected energy savings resulting from the energy assessment process. This International Standard specifies roles and responsibilities for those involved in the energy assessment activity. This International Standard provides exemplary information in Annexes B, C, D, and E on the type of data to be collected to promote successful energy assessment. The information provided is not complete and is therefore not intended to limit the inclusion of other data. The form and presentation of the information provided in the appendices is also not intended to limit the manner in which reports are presented to the customer.
