Scope
This International Standard specifies a method for determining the water absorption capacity of sized paper and board, including corrugated board, under standard conditions. It may not be suitable for paper with a weight per unit area of less than 50 g/m2 or for embossed paper. It is unsuitable for porous paper such as newsprint or unsized paper such as blotter or other papers with a relatively high water absorption capacity. ISO 8787 is more suitable for this. This method is not intended to accurately assess the writing properties of papers, although it does provide a general indication of suitability when using aqueous inks.
