This International Standard specifies a method for determining the gloss of coatings under the three measurement geometries 20°, 60° or 85°. The method is suitable for measuring the gloss of non-structured plain coatings on flat, opaque substrates. NOTE Comparative gloss measurements are possible on specimens of different types. However, it is not guaranteed that the gloss values obtained correspond to the visual impression of gloss (see Appendix A).
