This standard specifies the method for determining the thickness, mass per unit area and chemical composition of the zinc coating/aluminum coating on the surface of steel plates and steel strips using glow discharge atomic emission spectrometry. The elements applicable to this standard are zinc, aluminum, nickel, iron, silicon, lead, and antimony. Their content ranges (mass fraction) are as follows: Zn: 0.01% ~ 100%; Al: 0.01% ~ 100%; Ni: 0.01% ~ 20%; Fe:0.01%～20%; Si:0.01%～10%; Pb:0.005%～2%; Sb:0.005%～2%.
