This item of Part 1 is replaced by the following: This standard specifies the safety of electric vacuum cleaners (including electric vacuum cleaners for animals) and water suction cleaners for household and similar purposes with a rated voltage of 250 V or less. . This standard also applies to central vacuum cleaners and battery-operated vacuum cleaners. This standard also applies to electric cleaning heads and energized hoses associated with individual vacuum cleaners. Although not normally intended for domestic use, they may be used by the general public in commercial, light industrial and farm settings. Appliances that may pose a risk to the general public, such as those for which they are intended, are within the scope of this standard. As far as possible, this standard addresses the common hazards they pose to everyone around the home. However, this does not generally take into account:
——Persons (including children) who lack the physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, to use the appliance safely without supervision or instruction;
——Children playing with the appliance.
