This standard applies to pressure/vacuum relief valves protecting marine vessel systems, including cargo tanks that may be under gas/vapor pressures or vacuums other than the design parameters of the system and cargo tanks. This standard emphasizes material selection, internal finish and exterior requirements for pressure/vacuum valves installed in tanker cargo tanks and specifies the minimum performance and testing requirements for pressure/vacuum relief valves (see Annex A). . This standard specifies performance criteria, operational testing, and maintenance requirements for design and use. Certificate of compliance according to this standard does not cover compliance for all specified installations; it indicates that certain minimum requirements have been considered and that the information necessary to determine compliance has been provided to the purchaser of the installation. This standard does not cover flame transfer arresters. It does not mention all test procedures for devices that block the movement of flame. Such devices can be used with pressure/vacuum valves.?
