Scope
This standard specifies a method for measuring the softening of paints, inks and related products using suitable gauges graduated in micrometers. This standard specifies a method for measuring the softening of paints, inks and related products in flake form (e.g. glass flakes, micaceous iron oxide, zinc flakes). ) can be applied to all types of liquid paints and related products, excluding products containing pigments. Among the three gauges mentioned in 4.1, the 100 μm gauge is suitable for general use. However, when handled by an experienced operator, reliable results can be obtained using the 50 μm gauge and especially the 25 μm gauge. Special care must be taken when interpreting scales less than 10 μm.
