This standard specifies a conceptual model of a random number generator for cryptographic purposes and the elements of this model together. The standard specifies the following:
——Specifies the properties of the key elements required for a non-deterministic random number generator. - Deterministic. Specifies the characteristics of the key elements required for a random number generator - sets security requirements for both non-deterministic and deterministic random number generators. When there is a requirement to generate a sequence of random numbers from a string of random numbers, Annex B It provides guidance on how to do this. Techniques for statistical verification of random number generators for independent verification or validation purposes and specific designs for such random number generators are outside the scope of this standard.
