Scope
This standard specifies the minimum requirements for the functionality and performance of battery charge controllers (BCCs) for lead-acid batteries used in ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) systems. The main purpose is to ensure battery charge controller (BCC) reliability and maximize battery life. This standard should be used in conjunction with KS C IEC 62093, which describes the tests and requirements for application in installations. In addition to the battery charge control function, this standard presents the following characteristics of the battery control function: solar generator charging of the battery, load control, protection functions, and interface functions, although this standard does not address maximum power point tracking (MPPT) performance. It is applicable to battery charge controller (BCC) devices with this functionality. This standard defines functional and performance requirements for battery charge controllers and provides tests to determine the functional and performance characteristics of the charge controller. KS C IEC 62093 is intended to be used to determine requirements for installation, including but not limited to aspects such as enclosure, strength of mechanical connections, and safety. This standard is intended to apply to lead-acid batteries. This application is not limited to the capacity of the battery charge controller (BCC), but satisfies the requirements of test equipment used in battery charge controllers (BCC) with high voltage and current flowing over 120 V or 100 A.
