Scope

This standard specifies the inspection, maintenance, inspection and scrapping of in-service blowout preventers (hereinafter referred to as blowout preventers) and drilling spools. This standard applies to blowout preventers used in oil and gas drilling and downhole operations. This standard does not apply to inspections at drilling and workover sites.
