This standard specifies the minimum safety characteristics required for the design, materials used, manufacture and inspection of inflatable boats (including rigid inflatable boats) with a minimum buoyancy of 1 800 N and an overall length of 8 m or less. This standard Applies to inflatable boats of the following types operating within the range -20 °C to +60 °C:
——Type VII: Inflatable boats fitted with motors with a rated power of 15 kW or more - Type VIII: Inflatable boats with a rated power of 75 kW or more Inflatable boats for coastal waters capable of being fitted with a motor and having a coefficient of stability greater than 250. This standard excludes boats with one chamber and boats made of unproven materials, and includes aquatic toys and inflatable life rafts. Does not apply to rafts.
