This standard presents methods for calculating the thermal resistance and thermal transmittance of building members and elements, excluding doors, windows and other glazing units, members involved in heat transfer to the ground, and members designed to allow air to pass through. This calculation method is applicable to applications. It is based on the appropriate design thermal conductivity and design thermal resistance of materials and related products in terms of thermal conductivity. This method applies to members and elements constituting a thermally homogeneous layer (including an air layer). This standard also provides in Annex D Using the given correction terms, we provide a method suitable for use on elements containing inhomogeneous layers that have the effect of metal fasteners. In the case of metal-insulated space for connectors, it is beyond the scope of this standard.
