This standard is based on unsaturated polyester resin (hereinafter referred to as UP) to be applied to pressure and non-pressure piping for water purification for supplying drinking water, etc. and for transporting water for human consumption, including raw water before treatment. It specifies the performance of manufactured glass fiber reinforced thermoset plastic (GRP) piping systems. This standard specifies the performance of glass fiber reinforced thermoset plastic (GRP) piping systems manufactured with unsaturated polyester resins using rigid or flexible connectors, regardless of whether or not the pipe ends are subjected to thrust. It relates to thermosetting plastic piping systems and mainly applies to piping systems used for buried construction. This standard covers pressure and non-pressure piping with nominal dimensions (DN) 50 to 4 000 used to transport water below 50 °C. It can be applied to pipes, fittings, and connectors. In piping systems, straight pipes, joints, etc. with different nominal pressures and stiffness ratings may be used together. Clause 4 of this standard specifies general details of glass fiber reinforced thermosetting plastic (GRP) pressure and non-pressure piping systems for water supply. Clause 5 of this standard specifies the properties of pipes made of glass fiber reinforced thermosetting plastic (GRP) with or without fillers and aggregates.
