Scope
This standard specifies the time-weighted average mass concentration of hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas, hydrochloric acid mist, hydrogen bromide (HBr) vapor, hydrobromic acid mist, and nitric acid (HNO3) vapor and mist present in the workplace on alkali-impregnated quartz fiber filters. It specifies the method of measurement through impregnated quartz fiber filter) collection and ion chromatographic analysis. As defined in KS I ISO 7708, when collecting mist, this method collects and fixes (area) particles in the air inhaled by humans. Applies to sample collection. This analytical method is applied to the determination of HCl, HBr and HNO3 with a mass of 0.01 mg to 2.5 mg per sample. In the measurement procedure, the concentration range of HCl, HBr and HNO3 in air depends on the sampling method selected by the user. . For a 240 L air sample, the measurement range for HCl, HBr, and HNO3 is approximately 0.04 mg/m3 to 10 mg/m3. This procedure distinguishes between acids and their bases. If both are present in the air, the base particles are filtered out with a pre-filter. If necessary, both particles filtered by the pre-filter and/or particles deposited on the wall of the collection device can be analyzed. Acid may react with particles collected together with the pre-filter and interfere with acid concentration measurement.
