KS D ISO 3651-2:2014 Determination of resistance to intergranular corrosion of stainless steels — Part 2: Ferritic, austenitic and ferritic-austenitic (duplex) stainless steels — Corrosion test in media containing sulfuric acid
This standard specifies a method for measuring the intergranular corrosion resistance of ferritic, austenitic, and ferritic + austenitic (two-phase mixed) stainless steels, including low chromium ferritic stainless steels, in solutions containing sulfuric acid. In addition, this part also specifies the purpose of the test. There are following types of this test:
——Method A: 16 % sulfuric acid/ferric sulfate test (monypenny strauss test) - Method B: 35 % sulfuric acid/cupric sulfate test - Method C: 40 % sulfuric acid/ferric sulfate test - Method D: 0.5% sulfuric acid/cupric sulfate test (test method for low chromium ferritic stainless steel) This test method is used for castings, rolled materials (or forged materials), and pipes in a weakly oxidizing acid atmosphere (e.g. sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid). It can be applied to the evaluation of the intergranular corrosion resistance of stainless steels supplied in the form of: Examples of four test types applied to stainless steel are shown.
