This item of Part 1 is replaced by the following: This standard deals with the safety of appliances with a rated voltage of 250 V or less for single-phase appliances, 480 V or less for other appliances, and 24 V of direct current for battery-operated appliances. .—Refrigerating appliances for domestic and similar purposes—ice makers with electric compressors and ice makers incorporated in frozen food storage—cooling appliances and ice makers for use in camping and touring caravans and pleasure boats. These appliances are supplied with mains and portable batteries. They may be dual-purpose or run from either the mains or portable batteries. This standard also covers the safety of household ice cream appliances with a rated voltage of 250 V or less for single-phase appliances and 480 V or less for other appliances. Domestic use of flammable refrigerants. and compressed appliances for similar purposes. This standard does not cover the structural and operational features of refrigerated appliances covered in other IEC standards. Even refrigerated appliances that are not normally used in the home may pose a risk to the general public as follows: There are - Refrigeration equipment used in stores and offices in employee restrooms and other work environments - Refrigeration equipment used by users in farms, hotels, motels and other residential environments - Refrigeration equipment used in breakfast-type environments - Refrigeration equipment used in food service and similar non-retail applications
