This standard specifies requirements for laser components used in the spectral band of wavelengths 2.10 μm to 15.0 μm. This standard facilitates the supply of spare parts by:
——Reducing variety by specifying preferred dimensions and tolerances - Standardizing specifications and eliminating trade barriers - Creating an agreed upon method for ordering items Establishes a nomenclature method. This standard covers planar and plano-spherical and spherical substrates, lenses, and standardized optical components supplied by suppliers, usually through catalogs, for use with lasers. This standard includes component descriptions, uses, and specifications. This includes materials used, physical dimensions and manufacturing tolerances (surface finish, geometry and parallelism). Although most of these components are coated (either fully reflective, partially reflective, or anti-reflective) before being assembled into a laser system, this standard does not include recommendations for coating specifications.
