The guideline contains equations for calculating exhaust plume elevations, as required for chimney height calculations and immission simulations using dispersion models. A distinction is made between the increase in the exhaust plume in the vicinity of the source and the final value of the exhaust plume elevation. Equations for calculating the heat emission, the wind speed at the chimney mouth and other auxiliary variables for the exhaust plume elevation are also given. The Directive does not apply to cooling tower plumes or plumes discharged into a cooling tower. For exhaust plumes after flue gas scrubbing, the elevation equations produce a lower estimate.*www.vdi.de/3782
