VDI 3799 Blatt 2-1991 Measurement of immission effects; measurement and evaluation of phytotoxic effects of ambient air pollutants (immissions) with lichens; method of standardized lichen exposure
Pollutant induced thallus injury of the exposed lichen is determined. Dead lichen parts are free of green or bluish green pigments. They can be recognized by their white to greyish discoloration. The degree of injury, i.e. the percentage of injured thallus in comparison to the total thallus, is determined at the end of the exposure period.
