Scope: This guideline specifies the specific requirements for implementing a digital interface based on OPC. It specifies the general minimum requirements for digital interfaces for data exchange between automatic measuring and electronic evaluation devices for monitoring emissions as set out in the VDI 4201 Sheet 1 guideline. The requirements of this guideline, together with the requirements of VDI 4201 Sheet 1, serve as an assessment standard for suitability tests of automatic measuring and electronic evaluation devices that are equipped with digital interfaces based on OPC. This guideline, together with guideline VDI 4201 Sheet 1, meets the requirements of the federal standard practice for monitoring emissions and DIN EN 15267-3 with regard to the complete description of the digital interface in the standards and guidelines. This guideline may only be used in conjunction with guideline VDI 4201 Sheet 1. It is aimed at manufacturers of automatic measuring and electronic evaluation devices for monitoring emissions, at testing institutes that carry out suitability tests of such devices, and at the authorities who have to decide on a suitability announcement.
