Scope

This standard specifies the method for the determination of total phosphorus by using potassium persulfate (or nitric acid-perchloric acid) as an oxidizing agent to digest unfiltered water samples and spectrophotometrically using ammonium molybdate. Total phosphorus includes dissolved, particulate, organic and inorganic phosphorus. This standard applies to surface water, sewage and industrial wastewater.
