Scope: This standard specifies the infrared spectroscopy method and verification method for identifying whether the material of artificial leather and synthetic leather (hereinafter collectively referred to as artificial leather) is polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or polyurethane (PU), and provides guidelines for analysis steps and spectrum analysis. This standard applies to artificial leather with fabric as the base material and PVC and PU as the main coating materials, excluding coated leather with animal leather and regenerated leather as the base material. Refer to the identification of coating materials for composite materials containing animal leather and regenerated leather.
