- This standard specifies the basic requirements for the design of passive core cooling systems (PXS) for pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants. This standard only applies to the design of passive core cooling systems for pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants. It does not include the detailed design requirements of the system equipment, nor does it include the operation, maintenance and test requirements that are not directly related to the system design.
