NF Q03-111*NF EN 16418:2014 Paper and board - Determination of the cytotoxicity of aqueous extracts using a metabolically competent hepatoma cell line (HepG2)
This European Standard defines a test method specifically using the HepG2 cell line for the laboratory evaluation of the potential cytotoxic effect of paper and cardboard intended to come into contact with foodstuffs. Compared to the method described in EN 15845, HepG2 cells are more representative of the exposure of individuals to xenobiotics orally, due to the presence in the cells of phase I, II and III metabolis enzymes.
