Scope
1.1 This standard specifies the method for measuring the impedance of the detection coil of an absolute eddy current probe. This standard applies to conductive material flaw detection probes of bridge type, air core or ferrite core, wire wound, with or without magnetic shielding. This standard can be used as a general method for measuring the probe impedance before the purchaser receives the goods. 1.2 This standard does not apply to differential, AC-coupled, or transmit/receive probes. This standard does not address the case of magnetic materials used in test probes. In addition, this standard does not apply to the basic rules for the optimal selection of probes for a specific application or the calibration of probes for a specific test. 1.3 It is recommended to use the International System of Units, and the values in brackets are for reference only.
