This International Standard specifies general rules for setting the time base scale and sensitivity (i.e. gain control) of a manually operated ultrasonic flaw detector with representation of type A in order to be able to carry out reproducible measurements of the location and echo height of the reflector. It applies to techniques which use a single contact translator with a single transducer or with separate transmitter and receiver, but excludes the technique in immersion and techniques using more than one translator.
