Scope
This International Standard defines the general principles for the application of the time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) technique for the detection and sizing of dis ontinuities in low alloy carbon steel components. It can also be used for other types of materials, provided that the application of the TOFD technique takes into account the geometry, acoustic properties of the materials and the sensitivity of the examination. Although it is applicable, in generic terms, to material dis ontinuities and applications covered by is 16810, it contains references to weld applications
