- Scope
- This standard specifies the gas chromatography method for determination of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in electrical insulating oil. This standard is applicable to the determination of PCBs in electrical insulating oils contaminated by a single Aroclor or a mixture of Aroclors. It is also applicable to the determination of PCBs in askarels electrical insulating oil mixtures, but it is not applicable to the determination of PCBs from other pollution sources. Some electrical insulating oils containing halogenated hydrocarbons will interfere with the determination of PCBs, so this standard cannot be used for determination without pretreatment.
