Scope

This standard specifies the electrical characteristics of balanced voltage digital interface circuits. This interface circuit is usually implemented with integrated circuit technology, which can be used for the exchange of serial binary signals between data terminal equipment (DTE) and data circuit terminating equipment (DCE) or serial binary signals between digital devices any point-to-point interconnection.
