- This standard specifies the general principles of reliability verification tests and measurement tests and the estimation method of reliability characteristic quantities of instruments whose life obeys exponential distribution or approximately obeys exponential distribution. This standard is applicable to product reliability tests based on the average value of two adjacent failure working times, the average working time before failure and the failure rate as reliability characteristic quantities. This standard is applicable to products that assume that the statistical distribution of working time between adjacent failures (for repairable products) or working time before failure (for irreparable products) obeys an exponential distribution (failure rate is constant).
