- This standard specifies a method for direct determination of water content in petroleum products by Karl Fischer coulometric titration. This standard is applicable to the direct determination of water content in petroleum products with boiling points below 390°C. The applicable water content measurement range is 0.003%~0.100% (mass fraction), but it is not applicable to residual oil or ketone-containing petroleum products. This standard can be applied to lubricating base oils, but the corresponding precision has not yet been established. The precision given in Chapter 12 is based on a two-chamber (anode chamber and cathode chamber), two-electrode system.
