Using biological measurement methods (bioindication), accumulations of air pollutants in plants can be quantitatively recorded as immission effects. In order to be able to classify and evaluate the substance contents in standardized plant cultures, assessment values are used as a benchmark. The guideline presents an appropriate statistical methodology to establish robust upper limits for substance levels in standardized grass crops at regional level that are characteristic of background situations.
