This standard specifies the general conditions, requirements, methods and parameter values for proficiency testing of crane metal structures based on the limit state method, to be used in conjunction with the applicable part of ISO 8686 for loads and load combinations. This standard is general and applies to all types of cranes. For special and special cranes, other standards may specify the specific requirements for proficiency verification. Capability verification by means of theory-verified calculations and/or tests aimed at avoiding hazards associated with structural performance at established strength limits (e.g. yield limit, fatigue, brittle fracture). According to ISO 8686-1, two methods can be used for proficiency testing calculations: the limit state method of the sub-item load factor, and the allowable stress method of the overall safety factor. It is permissible to use the allowable stress method instead of the limit state method expressed in this standard. This standard does not include proficiency testing calculations for accessory components (such as railings, stairs, walkways, cabs). However, the impact of these auxiliary components on the main structure needs to be considered.
