- This standard specifies the requirements for industrial platinum resistance temperature sensing elements (hereinafter referred to as "components") and industrial platinum thermal resistance (hereinafter referred to as "platinum thermal resistance") and their temperature-resistance relationship. Their resistance value is a defined function of temperature. This standard applies to components with a temperature coefficient a value of 3.851×10-3℃-1. The temperature coefficient α is defined as in formula (1): where R100 is the resistance value at t = 100 °C, and R0 is the resistance value at t = 0 °C. The temperature values in this standard adopt the 1990 International Temperature Scale (ITS-90). In addition to Table 1, the temperature in degrees Celsius (°C) is represented by the symbol t, and Table 1 uses its formal full name t90/°C. This standard covers -200 ℃ ~ +850 ℃ the whole or part of the temperature range of different tolerance levels of components or platinum thermal resistance, each tolerance level may only cover a limited temperature range. A resistance-temperature relationship with an uncertainty of less than 0.1°C can only be used for components or platinum thermal resistances that have extremely high stability and need to be calibrated individually. This may require more complex interpolation equations than shown in this standard. A detailed specification of such equations is outside the scope of this standard.
