Scope
This standard specifies the temperature-electromotive force (EMF) and electromotive force-temperature scale tables and functional relationships of gold-platinum thermocouples and platinum-palladium thermocouples. At the same time, for the convenience of use, this standard also provides an approximate function of the temperature-electromotive force function relationship. The graduation tables and functional formulas specified in this standard are applicable to gold-platinum thermocouples and platinum-palladium thermocouples composed of gold and platinum with a purity of not less than 99.999% and palladium with a purity of not less than 99.99% by weight. This standard does not specify the tolerance of the electromotive force-temperature initial value of the thermocouple. If necessary, the tolerance should be determined through negotiation between the wire manufacturer and the user. The temperature used in this standard is based on the 1990 International Temperature Scale (ITS-90), in degrees Celsius, and the symbol is t90/°C. The electromotive force (EMF) is measured in microvolts, and the symbol is E/μV. This standard does not cover extension and compensating wires for pure metal composite thermocouples. Its use is determined through consultation between the manufacturer and the user.
