This standard specifies the method for measuring the specular gloss of paper and cardboard with 20°, 45°, and 75° gloss meters. This standard is applicable to cast coated paper, glossy paper, aluminum foil paper, vacuum aluminized paper, coated paper and cardboard, etc. The 20° gloss measurement method is mainly applicable to high-gloss paper and board such as cast-coated paper and glossy paper, and is also suitable for printing samples of paper and board with high printing gloss. Not suitable for lower gloss coated or uncoated paper and board. The 45° gloss measurement method is mainly suitable for the determination of metal composite paper and cardboard such as aluminum foil paper and vacuum aluminized paper. The 75° gloss measurement method is mainly applicable to coated paper and paperboard, and can also be used for uncoated paper and paperboard or paper and paperboard printing samples with low printing gloss. Differences in sample color and diffuse reflectance have little effect on the determination of gloss.
