This International Standard specifies the minimum requirements for the documentation, marking and labeling of laser devices classified according to IEC 60825-1, including laser diodes and any laser devices listed in ISO 11145. It applies to laser systems that are integrated into laser devices according to IEC 60825-1, as well as to laser devices that are integrated into laser systems or laser processing machines according to ISO 11553-1 and ISO 11552-2. This International Standard does not apply to complete laser devices (ready-to-use), embedded laser devices without external laser emission using protective clothing, or laser processing machines containing a laser device. It does not apply to incoherent luminaires and other similar radiation sources such as LEDs, which must comply with IEC 62471. This International Standard specifies requirements for the technical data sheet (see Section 5) and user information (see Section 6). The requirements in this International Standard do not extend, but do not replace, the requirements of IEC 60825-1. NOTE 1 The provision of technical and safety information is an integral part of a product and is essential for its safe use. The documentation covers the entire life cycle, transport, assembly, system integration, intended operation, maintenance, service, decommissioning and disposal. NOTE 2 For incomplete machines (not ready for use), the manufacturer or supplier is responsible for the documentation as all components are provided by him.
