- This standard provides guidance for contact lens manufacturers to write information and provide it to eye care professionals for the hygienic handling of soft and rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lenses for multiple patient fits. Examples of label information can be found in Appendix A. This standard does not cover the following issues: ——national regulations for contact lens labeling; ——inactivation of prions is not mentioned as there are no reported cases of contact lenses transmitting prions.
