Scope
This part of ISO 8980 specifies the requirements for the transmission characteristics of raw-edged finished spectacle lenses and fully assembled spectacle lenses, including those lenses which attenuate solar radiation. This part of ISO 8980 does not apply to: spectacle lenses with special transmission properties or absorption properties prescribed for medical reasons; Products to which special standards apply with regard to the transmission properties for personal protective equipment; Products for direct observation of the sun, such as during a solar eclipse. NOTE Optical and geometric requirements for raw-edged finished lenses are specified in ISO 8980-1 and ISO 8980-2; For fully assembled lenses they are specified in ISO 21987.
