Scope
This part of GB/T 4835 applies to portable or mobile dose equivalent (rate) instruments and/or monitors for measuring ambient and/or directional dose equivalent (rate) generated by external beta, X and gamma radiation in emergency situations . It is directly applicable to the dose equivalent (rate) instrument used in emergency situations, which is used to determine the dose equivalent or dose equivalent rate generated by external beta and/or X and gamma radiation with energy up to 10 MeV. The purpose of this standard is to specify the design requirements and performance characteristics of dose equivalent (rate) instruments used to determine ambient and/or directional dose equivalent (rate) in emergency situations. In addition to the revisions and new provisions listed in this section, all provisions in GB/T 4835.1-2012 are applicable to emergency purpose instruments. This section neither specifies which instrument is required, nor does it consider the number or specific location of the instrument. This section does not identify the instruments used for a particular type of accident. The rated range of the instrument and the radiation and non-radiation conditions considered by the design of the instrument shall adequately cover the accident and post-accident conditions determined by the accident analysis and/or specified by the relevant regulatory authority or qualified personnel. These accidents are expected to include dose equivalents (rates) and extremes of the environment (eg, temperature and humidity). See GB/T 4835.1-2012 for the technical requirements of the dose equivalent rate meter for measuring the minimum detectable dose rate level below the minimum detectable dose rate specified in this part. When this instrument is also used for emergency measurements, it shall also meet the requirements of this section. Although this section specifies the requirements for instruments mainly used in emergency situations, these instruments can also be used for usual on-site measurements. If the instrument is configured with a remote detector and provides an additional detector for measuring the dose equivalent rate at the operator's location, the requirements shall apply to both detectors.
