This standard specifies the acceptance levels 2 and 3 for ultrasonic testing of ferritic full penetration welded joints. The acceptance level 2 and level 3 of this standard correspond to the quality requirements of level B and level C welds in GB/T 19418 respectively. Since the D-level welds in GB/T 19418 generally do not require ultrasonic testing, there is no ultrasonic testing acceptance level corresponding to the D-level weld quality requirements in GB/T 19418 in this standard. The acceptance level of this standard applies to ultrasonic testing based on GB/T 11345. This standard applies to ferritic full penetration welds with a thickness of 8 mm to 100 mm. This standard can also be applied to other types, other materials and welds with a thickness exceeding 100 mm, provided that the detection can be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the detection sensitivity required for the acceptance level of this standard with full consideration of the geometric shape and acoustic performance of the workpiece. Unless material attenuation or higher probe resolution requirements require other frequency probes, the nominal frequency of the probes used in this standard is 2 MHz to 5 MHz. If the frequency used is not in this range, the acceptance level needs to be carefully considered.
