Scope
This standard specifies the method for determination of UV absorbance and absorption coefficient of petroleum products. This standard is applicable to the measurement of ultraviolet absorption of various petroleum products at a wavelength in the 220nm ~ 400nm spectral region, including the absorbance of liquid samples, or the absorption coefficients of liquid and solid samples. This standard is used under specified measurement conditions. The specified conditions include wavelength, solvent (if used), sample optical path length and sample concentration. When using, refer to the application examples in the appendix of this standard, or other descriptions of measurement conditions. Application examples of this standard include the determination of the absorbance of white oil, the absorbance coefficient of refined petroleum wax, and the absorbance coefficient of pharmaceutical petroleum jelly.
