CEN ISO/TS 15216-1:2013 Microbiology of food and animal feed - Horizontal method for determination of hepatitis A virus and norovirus in food using real-time RT-PCR - Part 1: Method for quantification
This part of ISO/TS 15216 describes a method for the quantitative determination of the RNA content of HAV and NoV of genogroups I (GI) and II (GII) in test samples of food or food surfaces. After the viruses have been released from the test sample, the viral RNA is extracted by digesting the virus capsid with guanidine thiocyanate and adsorbing it on silica (particles). The target sequences within the viral RNA are amplified and detected using real-time RT-PCR. After appropriate validation and when using target molecule-specific primer and probe sets, this procedure also applies to the detection of the target viruses on virus carriers as well as for the detection of other human viruses in food, on food surfaces or virus carriers.
