This International Standard describes a shear test method to determine the shear bond strength between direct dental restorative materials and the tooth structure, e.g. B. dentin or enamel can be determined. The procedure described is primarily intended for dental adhesives. The procedure describes the selection of the substrate, the storage and handling of the tooth structure, as well as the execution of the test. NOTE 1 Because testing of bond strength to tooth structure is technique sensitive, experience with the testing procedure is required. NOTE 2 The test method can also be used for adhesive restorative materials (e.g. glass ionomer cements) with appropriate modifications.
