This International Standard specifies parameters for describing fully processed natural gas and, where necessary, natural gas blends. This gas is hereinafter referred to as "natural gas". The main part of this standard contains a list of these parameters with units and references to measurement standards. In addition, examples of typical values of these parameters are given in informative appendices to this standard, with an emphasis on health and safety. When defining parameters for the gas composition, physical properties and trace components, existing natural gases were taken into account accordingly to ensure their validity. The topic of interchangeability is covered in Appendix A (see A.2).
