Scope

This part of GB/T 4340 specifies the inspection and calibration methods for the Vickers hardness tester (hereinafter referred to as the hardness tester) used to determine the Vickers hardness according to GB/T 4340.1. This part applies to the direct test method for testing the basic functions of the hardness tester and the indirect test method for the comprehensive inspection of the hardness tester. The indirect test method can be used independently for regular routine checks of hardness testers in service. If the hardness tester can also be used for hardness testing by other methods, the hardness tester shall be tested separately for each method. This section also applies to portable hardness testers.
