Scope
This specification covers requirements for corrosion resistant coatings on carbon steels used for hardware components in window, door, and skylight applications. The requirements are functional and are not intended to address aesthetics. Due to the diversity of corrosive environments that windows and doors are exposed to, this specification does not imply a specific service life. Due to the lack of specifications and/or standards for coatings not covered in Section 3.0, the testing requirements for other coatings in Section 4.0 have been made more stringent to address the increased potential for variability in application.
