Scope
This specification covera a titanium alloy in the form of bars, wire, forgings, flash welded rings, and stock for forging, flash welded rings, or heading. These products have been used typically for parts to be rough machined prior to solution and precipitation heat treatment and for parts requiring high strength-to-weight ratios at or near room temperature, but usage is not limited to such applications. Certain processing procedures and service conditions may cause these products to become subject to stress-corrosion cracking; SAE ARP 983 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.
