The standard, which has been revised, takes its starting point from ISO 8022:1990, and supersedes DS/EN 1772:1996, describes the determination of the wetting ability of surfactants. The test involves the immersion of unbleached cotton fabric. The method can - regardless of the substance's ionic activity - be used for all surfactants used in slightly acidic, neutral or slightly alkaline baths. It is not applicable to aids for mercerization (high pH) or for carbonization (low pH). The update is based on the use of another comparison chemical.
