Scope
This standard method describes a procedure for the determination of platinum in jewellery platinum alloys preferably within the range of fineness as stated in ISO 9202 using inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometry.Preferentially the platinum content of the alloys lies between 850 ‰ (parts per thousand) and 950 ‰ platinum.NOTE Lower contents of platinum can be analyzed with this method.Platinum jewellery alloys can contain silver, indium, gallium, copper, cobalt, nickel, tin and ruthenium.Interferences with the determination procedure by the presence of these alloying elements have not been observed. If other elements are alloyed it has to be checked
